- It's super fast - You can whip up these sticky sausages with honey mustard sauce in 10 minutes. And you can reheat it, so it can be made in advance.
Ingredients
There are just three simple ingredients in this cocktail sauce recipe, and you probably already have them.
- Cocktail sausages - I use good quality pork cocktail sausages. You can use chicken sausages, chipolata sausages, or even full-size normal sausages if you prefer. But the mini pork sausages work best for this recipe to serve at parties.
- Runny honey - You can substitute honey with maple syrup or another syrup like agave or date syrup if you prefer for these sticky honey mustard sausages. Do not use set honey.
- Wholegrain mustard - A strong whole-grain mustard is the best mustard to use in this easy cocktail sausages recipe. You can use Dijon mustard, but grainy mustard is better for both flavor and the added texture of the whole mustard seeds.
- Salt and pepper

How to make honey mustard cocktail sausages
- Blot the cocktail sausages with paper towels to soak up excess moisture.
- Heat a casserole dish over medium on the stove with a small amount of olive oil or other cooking oil. Sausages are fatty, so you will not need too much.
- Fry the cocktail sausages until browned on all sides.
- Stir through the wholegrain mustard and honey and continue to cook for another 3-4 minutes, stirring to prevent it from sticking.
- Spoon the cocktail sausages into a small serving bowl and drizzle the remaining glaze on top.
Alternatively, spread cocktail sausages in a single layer on a baking tray and cook for 5-7 minutes at 180C/355F before stirring through the mustard honey glaze and returning to the oven for a further 2-3 minutes. It is easier to burn them this way though, so I prefer to make this recipe on the stovetop where I can keep an eye on it!
Top tip
Serve these glazed honey mustard cocktail sausages on a serving platter with a pot of cocktail sticks, or your guests will end up with very sticky hands!
Tips and serving suggestions
This easy recipe can be adapted in a few ways to suit you.
- Use pre-cooked cocktail sausages to make this recipe even easier, and simply mix them with the glaze and warm them through.
- You can make a dipping sauce to serve alongside the honey mustard cocktail sausages by mixing mayonnaise with wholegrain mustard and serving it alongside them.
- Garnish with sesame seeds for a bit of a crunch!
- If you are looking for easy dinner ideas, deglaze the pan after removing the sausages with a splash of white wine and then stir in some cream to make a sauce. Return the sausages to the pan at the end, and warm it all through. Serve with mashed potatoes.

Wine pairing
A dry Reisling is a good wine pairing for honey mustard or a fruity red like a South African Cabernet Sauvignon.
Equipment
I like to make this recipe in a casserole dish or large saucepan with high sides as it makes it very easy to watch. Just make sure it is big enough to keep the sausages in a single layer, or they won't brown.
Storage
Store leftover honey mustard cocktail sausages in an airtight container in the fridge and consume within 2-3 days. To reheat, gently warm the leftover sausages in a saucepan or skillet, stirring to stop the honey mustard glaze from catching on the base of the saucepan and burning. Alternatively, place them into an oven dish and reheat them that way.
Once mixed with the sauce, I do not recommend freezing honey mustard cocktail sausages.
