Making the fruitiest, most refreshing homemade strawberry frozen yogurt recipe is as easy as anything, and using thick and creamy Greek yogurt gives it the ultimate texture.
We don't cook the strawberry puree, so the flavor of this homemade frozen yogurt is as close as possible to eating a strawberry. You'll need an ice cream machine, but it's really a simple recipe that is perfect for hot summer days.

📖 Ingredients List
The beauty of this recipe is the simple ingredients that really don't need any processing. It comes together in minutes so it's a great one to have when you're busy but need an easy dessert in the freezer. Here is what you'll need.
- Strawberries - Use ripe fresh strawberries with no blemishes. You can also use frozen strawberries, although sometimes this can end up making a more watery puree and less creamy frozen yogurt.
- Lemon - A squeeze of citrus acidity brightens the flavor and preserves the vibrant pink color of this frozen treat, too.
- Powdered sugar—To avoid heating the puree to dissolve granulated sugar, we use icing sugar (powdered sugar/confectioners sugar). This means we get a really fresh strawberry flavor that isn't "jammy."
- Plain Greek Yogurt—Use full-fat yogurt for the best flavor and creamy texture. Half-fat versions will sacrifice taste and creaminess and likely add more sweetness, which the recipe doesn't need. You can use regular yogurt, but Greek yogurt does tend to be thicker and creamier.

👩🏼🍳 Instructions
- Hull the strawberries (here are some ways to use strawberry tops), and place the strawberries, powdered sugar, and lemon juice into a blender. Liquidize into a puree.
- Stir in the plain yogurt until fully combined.
- Pour the strawberry yogurt mixture into the ice cream maker, churn for 20 minutes, and transfer to a freezer-safe container.
- Freeze until needed, but take it out 20 minutes before you need to eat it for the best scoopable consistency.
🌟 Top Tip
If you prefer to remove the seeds, push the strawberry puree through a sieve before mixing in the yogurt. Strawberry seeds are quite soft though, so I normally leave them in.
👩🏼🍳 Chef's Tips & Serving suggestions
Often, I will make the strawberry puree ahead of time and freeze it (labeled) until needed. This way, I can take advantage of the best ripe strawberries but enjoy homemade strawberry frozen yogurt all year round or next time you want a summery treat. Simply defrost, then mix with the yogurt and churn. You can also use different fruit in this easy frozen yogurt recipe, try raspberries or blueberries instead.
Serve this tasty strawberry froyo on hot summer days with fresh strawberries on top. To make this easy recipe more decadent, use it instead of cream in Eton Mess with crumbled meringue and more fresh berries.
🍷 Wine pairing for strawberry frozen yogurt
A semi-sweet rose sparkling wine is the perfect accompaniment to strawberry frozen yogurt. Perhaps a demi-sec rose Champagne, off-dry rose Prosecco. Alternatively, try a light and refreshing Moscato d'Asti.
❄️ Storage & Freezing
Homemade strawberry frozen yogurt will keep in the freezer for one to two months but tastes best within one month. Store in an airtight container and cover the surface with plastic wrap to prevent freezer burn.
🥣 Equipment
You will need a blender/liquidizer to blend the puree, or you can also use a food processor or stick blender (immersion blender), potato masher, or whatever works! Then, use an ice cream maker to churn the mixture for this easy strawberry frozen yogurt recipe. Whilst you can simply just freeze the mixture, ice crystals will form if you don't churn it as it freezes.
Make sure you have a suitable freezer-safe container to store it in; this recipe makes 1 quart/1 liter of frozen yogurt. I re-use old ice cream cartons to reduce kitchen waste.
❓Recipe FAQ
Take it out of the freezer 20-30 minutes before serving so it softens.
Whilst it still contains sugar, homemade frozen yogurt is much lower in fat than homemade ice cream. However, both can be enjoyed to the full as part of a balanced diet.
