📖 Ingredients
You only need a handful of very basic, simple ingredients to make this Thai sweet chili sauce dip recipe, all of which are readily available in grocery stores.
- Cream cheese - Use a good quality full-fat cream cheese in this dip. I like to use Philadelphia.
- Sour cream - This adds a touch of acidity and stops the dip from being too rich.
- Sweet chili sauce - This classic condiment from Thailand, also known as Sweet Thai chili sauce, is a common ingredient in Asian cuisine made from red chili peppers and sugar. It has a vibrant pink/red color and a delicious mild, spicy, yet sweet taste. It is a great dipping sauce for spring rolls or coconut shrimp!
- Coriander/Cilantro - Fresh herbs really elevate this dip; don't skip it!
- Thai rice crackers - You can serve this easy cream cheese and sweet chilli sauce dip with any kind of dipping vehicle, including vegetable crudites or even chicken wings or French fries. But it tastes best with Thai rice crackers.

👩🏼🍳 How To Make This Easy Dip Recipe
Mix equal parts sour cream and cream cheese in a bowl until fully incorporated.
Spoon the cream cheese mixture onto a shallow dish or serving platter.
Pour a layer of sweet chilli sauce over the cream cheese dip,
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves / fresh cilantro and serve or refrigerate until needed.
🌟 Top Tip 🌟
I place the herbs around the edges as not everyone likes coriander, and this means they can choose whether or not to eat it.
👩🏼🍳 Chef's Notes & Serving Suggestions
Serving this sweet chilli sauce dip on a wide, shallow dish ensures that each dipper gets both the cream cheese part and the sweet chili sauce part. Alternatively, you can mix the whole thing together, but it doesn't look as pretty.
If you want to add a bit more of a kick and spicy flavors, mix a bit of hot sauce into the sweet chili layer. Or sprinkle some chopped fresh red chilies over the top or some dried chili flakes.
For other party dips using cream cheese, try this smoked salmon cream cheese dip or green pea dip.
🍷 Wine pairing for sweet chilli sauce dip
I would serve this sweet chili dip with an off-dry prosecco, as the acidity will help balance the creaminess, and the slight sweetness will work well with the sweet chilli sauce. Plus, this dip is made to be enjoyed at parties, and prosecco is perfect for parties.
❄️ Storage & Freezing
If you make this sweet chilli sauce dip ahead of time, store it covered in the fridge until needed. It will last for 2-3 days, refrigerated in an airtight container. Add the herbs at the last minute before serving.
This dip will not freeze well.
🥣 Equipment
All you will need to make this easy dip recipe is a mixing bowl and a serving platter!
